The Hennessey Venom GT - World's Quickest Production Car

Manufactured by Hennessey Performance Engineering, the Hennessey Venom GT is the quickest production car in the world. This Texan-built supercar set the new Guinness World Record for an average 0-300 km/h acceleration time of just 13.63 seconds. The Hennessey Venom GT also set an unofficial record for 0-200 mph acceleration at 14.51 seconds.

Hennessey Performance Engineering is now planning to attempt to break the world record for the fastest production car. The title for the fastest production car is currently held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The title holder achieved a speed of 431.072 km/h (267.86 mph) at the Volkswagen proving grounds in 2010. Hennessey claims that the car can achieve a top speed of 272 mph (437 km/h), although this has not been tested yet.

The Hennessey Venom GT was revealed on March 29, 2010. Each of the Venom GT car takes six months to build. The Venom GT is powered by twin turbocharged 7.0 L V8 engine featuring Ball Bearing Turbocharging system. The engine produces 1,244 bhp of power and 1,155 N·m of torque. These supercars have an eye-watering price tag of $1.44million.

The Venom GT uses a highly modified Lotus Exige chassis. It has a production curb weight of about 1,200 kg because of its lightweight carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber wheels. These supercars have an eye-watering price tag of $1.44million.

However, Venom GT's record-holding status may be short lived. The California-based manufacturer is already working on the car's successor - the Hennessey Venom GT2. The Hennessey Venom GT2 is supposed to be more powerful and one can expect that the new car will follow the tradition and attempt to break some records.

Weber Faster One – Claiming to Be the World's Fastest Street-legal Sports Car

Weber Sportcars claims that its new super sports car Weber Faster One is the world's fastest street-legal sports car. The Swiss sports car maker released the specifications for the latest iteration of its sports car with the claim that it is capable of a maximum speed of over 400 km/h (248 mph).

It seems the car maker didn't forget its promise and still has the title in its sights. Weber Sportcars promised to unseat the Bugatti Veyron as the world’s fastest street legal sports car with its Faster One (F1) back in 2008.

However, I'm not quite sure how this sports car with a top speed of over 400 km/h can defeat the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports which has a top speed of 431 km/h (267 mph). Even the roadster version of the Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph ). This makes the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse the fastest roadster in the world.

In fact, the Hennessey Venom GT, Koenigsegg Agera R, SSC Ultimate Aero, and 9ff GT9-R all claim maximum speeds of over 400 km/h. Now the big question is 'just how much over 400 km/h the Faster One is capable of.' We'll have to wait for some time for the confirmation and to see whether Weber Faster One can become the world's fastest sports car beating Bugatti Veyron Super Sports.

Toyota Prius - The Best Value Car

According to Consumer Reports new analysis, the Toyota Prius has become the best value car in the market defeating the Honda Fit. With an operating cost of 49 cents per mile, the Prius is about half as expensive to operate as the average car.

The best value cars are those that combine a low cost to operate, good reliability, and good performance. Consumer Reports analyzed more than 200 vehicles that their auto experts have tested recently. The performance of the cars are determined based on - the cars’ relative benefits; their relative risk of having problems; and estimates of each vehicle’s five-year ownership costs. The models that perform better overall in those categories are considered to be the best value cars.

The Honda Fit has held the title of the best value car for the past four years but lost its position to the Prius because of the fact that the reliability rating of the Prius is slightly higher than the Fit’s. However, there are plenty of less expensive cars in the market too. But those cars can’t match the Prius for its comfortable ride, competent handling, roomy interior, excellent reliability, and, of course, its great fuel economy.

The Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG

The Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG is the best car so far from the giant automobile company Mercedes Benz. It is a high performance version of the Mercedes Benz SLK hardtop convertible car. It is declared as the most powerful SKL the company have ever created.

Through the Mercedes Benz SLK55, AMG demonstrates that it is not all about the engine. It is less of a tactile, precision driving instrument than competitors, instead providing a combination of brutal power and traditional Mercedes luxury. It is a compact roadster with a more aggressive design.

The combination of a powerful V8 engine in a compact sports car produces eye-catching performance. It has a 7200-rpm redline and puts out 415 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. The SLK55 AMG sprints from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds – a time that makes it quicker than cars costing almost twice as much.
